S&G Construction Inc. remodels kitchens in homes throughout Orange County, California, and in Long Beach, Lakewood and the Inland Empire. The work is done under CSLB Lic. #1113089.
What does a kitchen remodel involve?
At the smaller end it is cabinets, counters and finishes, with everything staying roughly where it is. That is the version where the plumbing and the gas and electrical connections do not move, and the room comes back as a better copy of itself.
At the other end the layout changes. An island arrives, the sink moves to a window, a wall between the kitchen and the living room comes out. Once anything moves, plumbing and electrical follow it, and if a wall is involved the first question is what that wall is holding up. That is the difference between a kitchen that is being refinished and a kitchen that is being rebuilt, and it is the single biggest fork in the job.
Between those two ends sit the choices most people actually spend their time on: cabinet construction and door style, counter material, appliance sizes and the lighting plan. Those are worth settling before work starts rather than during.
What should be decided first?
Whether the layout moves. Everything else, including how long the room is out of use and how much of the house the work touches, follows from that one answer.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost?
The size of the kitchen, whether the layout stays put, the cabinets and counters chosen, and what is found behind the old ones. Those are the drivers, and no two kitchens of the same size land in the same place.
